Workshop 160, Pinewood Studios

Faircloth completed the first new workshop unit at Pinewood Studios in February 2024 as part of a 10-year plan to replace temporary workshops.

The new, purpose-built workshops are large-span enclosures that can accommodate a range of film and TV production activities, and they can be subdivided whenever necessary into smaller, independent units.

A key driver in the design on the new units is the requirement for largely column-free space to maximise flexibility and adaptability.

Design of the buildings combines the functional requirements dictated by the workshop accommodation with the efficiency of repetitive structural bays.

The intention is for this approach to reduce maintenance and requirements and to maximise the potential for fabrication offsite, thereby minimising work on site and the associated disturbance this had on Pinewood’s filming schedules.
