Mayflower Retail Park - Basildon

"Faircloth provided again, an exemplary relationship with the client and the project team in order to achieve quality of the finished product on time and budget".

Darko Teslich, Mountford Pigott

This project called for the subdivision of a large empty unit into three new units, requiring extensive strengthening of the existing structural steel frame with a new ‘SSG’ structural silicon double height glazing.

This resulted in opening up the views connecting the front elevation with the main retail terrace and public areas that were extensively upgraded in recent years. The full height glazing returns on both sides of the main frontage, to provide a striking visual impact on the views of the main approach to the site.

The units incorporate new feature signposts of which each is detached from the new shop front and incorporates a lower clear glazed canopy and an upper louvered canopy.

  • "The successful completion of the project was facilitated by Faircloth’s effective management of sometimes contradictory design and constructional requirements arising during the contract.  This included addressing often time-sensitive design input from the three tenants, developing design of necessary structural alterations to deliver the client’s aspirations for improving the environmental aspects of the existing building, providing proactive responses to the challenges arising from site constraints inherent in a refurbishment of an existing building".
