Riverwalk Business Park, Enfield

"Faircloth are a first class example of how you can build in this country, economically, on time and in budget." Peter Meyer - Mitchell MacFarlane

This former brown field site was transformed by Faircloth Construction into a stunning business park. The project centered around the construction of foundations and a super structure for 10 industrial units, comprising of approximately 92,000 sq ft of warehouse accommodation.

The project was complicated by the fact that the site was originally used by Johnson Matthey for the process of smelting precious metals. The whole site was heavily contaminated and had to be thoroughly cleared before work could begin. To protect against contamination, methane membrane barriers and ventilation was utilised during the construction process.

Added to this, was the high water table that was present and had to be overcome at the start of the job. The area required piled foundations and vibrocompaction ground improvement. Designed to incorporate wind turbines, the building also included triple glazing throughout, mezzanine flooring and solar shading.
